Jorge Carreras Llansana, Full Academician of RACEF, died at 86

Dr. D. Jorge Carreras Llansana, Full Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF), died yesterday in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) at 86 years. The President of the RACEF, Jaime Gil Aluja, regrets the loss on behalf of all the Real Corporation, which held a session in his memory.

The Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF) has hold in Algeria an International Scientific Seminar with the University of Bejaia under the theme "Past and future of the Mediterranean area. Social and economic considerations". Topping the representation of RACEF its President, Jaime Gil Aluja, while the Algerian side has been represented by the former Minister of Labour and Corresponding Member of the RACEF Mohamed Laichoubi.


Djurovic condemns the exploitation of science in his acceptance speech as Corresponding Academician for Montenegro

Momir Djurovic, President of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts gave a warning on the exploitation of science by governments, businesses and pressure groups in order to manipulate public opinion in an interested manner in his acceptance speech as Corresponding Academician for Montenegro of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF). Acting as sponsors were Academicians of the RACEF Emilio Ybarra and Ramón Poch. Replying to the speech in the name of the Royal Corporation was its Vice-President, Lorenzo Gascón.


Granell is awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Government of Catalonia

The Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras  Francesc Granell has been awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) its maximum distinction, the Creu de Sant Jordi {the Cross of St. George}, for his extensive professional and academic career in the service of the Catalan, Spanish and European economy, in his condition as ex Senior Member of the European Commission. Granell will receive the award from the President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, on the 20th of April.

Juan Ramón Quintás, Honorary President of the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA) {Spanish Federation of Savings Banks}  and Professor at the University of A Coruña was admitted as Corresponding Academician for Galicia of the Real Academia de Ciencas Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) at a Solemn Session that was held this afternoon in Barcelona.


Spanish and Ukrainian researchers are finalizing the second report of RACEF's Economics Observatory, dedicated to Ukraine

A delegation of Ukrainians researchers led by Yuri Kondratenko visit Barcelona this week to finalize the details of the second report of Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas  y Finacieras's Observatory of Economics, devoted entirely to Ukraine. The report will be presented on June 6 by the Honorary President of the Observatory, the Nobel Prize in Economics and Academic for Norway Finn E. Kydland.


Gil Aluja presents the Medal of Honour of the RACEF to the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen

A representative group from the Royal Academy of Economics and Financial Sciences of Spain (RACEF) headed by its President Jaime Gil Aluja accompanied by the Spanish Ambassador to Finland, Marcos Vega, and the Finnish Ambassador to Spain, Markku Keinanen, today in Helsinki presented the Medal of Honour of the Royal Corporation to the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, for her support to economic and financial sciences by her co-sponsorship, jointly with H.M. the King Juan Carlos I, of the joint Solemn Academic Act that the RACEF and the Finnish Institute for International Affairs held yesterday at the headquarters of the Bank of Finland.
